Jaguar XK150

The Jaguar XK150 Cabriolet and Coupe appeared in 1957 as well as the XK150 Roadster and a S version for all three.
They all had:
Push button door handles
A motor powered by the same motor within the XK140.
It was different from the Jaguar XK140 in that it had:
One large windscreen
A less deep wing line
A widened bonnet opening down to the wings
On the Roadster the windscreen was moved 4 inches and therefore the bonnet was longer.
Colours
The car was available in the following colours
White
Indigo Blue
Red
Pearl Grey
Claret
Cotswold Blue
Mist Grey
Sherwood Green
Black
British Racing Green
Imperial Maroon
Cornish Grey
The dashboard was now leather not walnut and in the early coupes the aluminium dash panel had an X pattern like the 3.8 E Type. The doors were built thinner to give more space inside and a red light on the dash let the driver know the front parking lights on the wings were on.
Similar to the XK140 was the chassis and suspension and there was no power steering, different was the fender line. The engine was standard Jaguar but with a B Type Cylinder head. The 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-6 rated at 180 SAE bhp at 5750 rpm the majority of the cars were fitted with the SE engine whose modified cylinder head (B type) and larger exhaust valves boosted the power to 210 SAE bhp at 5500 rpm. Twin 1.75-inch (44 mm) SU HD6 carburettors were fitted.
In 1958 a 3.4 litre S Engine with 3 x 2 inch SUHD8 carburettors and straight –port cylinder head increased power dramatically to 250 SAE bhp. By 1960 the engine was 3.8 litres. 220 hp standardized tuning and 265hp in “S” form. Top speed was now 135mph and standing to 60mph was approximately 7 seconds and four wheel Dunlop 12 in disc brakes were fitted too. The car had 6.00 x 16 inch Dunlop Road Speed Tyres or 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 as an option on either 16 x 5k1/2 or 16 x 5k solid or wire wheels.
By October 1960 it was all over and production ceased.

Production

2265 Jaguar XK150 Roadsters had been produced
4445 Fixed Head Jaguar XK150 Coupes were built
2672 Drophead Jaguar XK150 Coupes were created
In 1959 after a test by The Motor Magazine the 3.4 litre Jaguar XK150S Fixed Head Coupe reached a top speed of 132 MPH, and in less than 8 seconds.
